Structured Strongman Session Highlights: 31 Jan 2009 - Tyre Flips

Coming off a very competitive Strongman Smackdown, the Team Iron Behemoths members all had something to prove during this week's tyre flip session.

Members who competed in Strongman Smackdown all bettered their timings; for those who did not show up, it was about redemption.

Weixian flips a very decent 01:21:96

Today's Commendable Mention, Wei Liang and Glen, who flipped the tyre in respective personal best times of 00:50:26 and 00: 43:08. Impressive!

Strongman Smackdown Highlights: 24 Jan 2009

This past week, Team Iron Behemoths held its inaugural Strongman Smackdown at Hong Lim Park. Kudos to our members who showed up, stood up and were counted. They did pretty well for themselves.

The competitors battled it out in 3 strongman events: the 250kg Tyre Flip, the 240kg Sled Pull and the 100kg Farmer's Walk (click here for more contest details).

The first event was the Tyre Flip, where contestants had to flip a 250kg tyre 8 times in the shortest time possible.

... and some of our members, like Anand and Jon Boey.

So after a long, sweaty, hard-fought battle, the Top-3 places went to:

Hiroshi Yoshida (2nd Runner-Up)

Yusri Bin Ali (1st Runner-Up)

And Nick, our 2-metre-tall Winner of Strongman Smackdown, who also happened to win the lucky draw - a 5lbs Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard! Guess it was really his day.

Introduction

Greetings, Behemoths.

Finally, a place where you all can flaunt your weekly improvements and let your friends track you as you get stronger by the week. This is the only "online-stats" portal that counts - and it is endorsed by the strongest men in the country, Team Iron Behemoths.

Welcome to the Team Iron Behemoths Members' Structured Training Log.

What is Structured Strongman Training?
Simply put it's how we Behemoths' train. 3 passes of a chosen Strongman discipline to reach your personal best timing while minimising the risk of injury by not overdoing it. We structure it for optimum performance and we structured it for ourselves initially. Now it is open for everyone!

This training log will feature weekly updates and highlights on our sessions. Members who do especially well and impress us will be featured under our "Strongman Spotlight" section.

Also coming up is a "Hall of Fame", which will feature the top 10 performers in the 3 main strongman events - the Tyre Flip, the Sled Pull and the Farmer's Walk, and the big 3 powerlifting exercises - the squat, the benchpress and the deadlift.

For non-members, this is your chance to scout your competition for the upcoming strongman challenge, just don't get too demoralised though (that being said, you can always join us and you'll get better as well - as the old saying goes: "if you can't beat them, join them!").

This blog will showcase our members, who are up-and-coming strongman competitors.

And you could be one of them!

So get ready to be blown away by rapid progress!
